Hot Cocoa!

Mooner has been asking for hot cocoa ever since watching Polar Express, particularly this part.
Searching high and low for a dairy and soy free recipe was challenging, but coconut milk turns out to do the trick nicely.

She even does her own dishes!

Oh, and notice that she is wearing clothes! That is half the reason for this post :)

OUTSIDE!!!

Yes, it was freezing (literally), but the sun was shining and there was some yard work to be done.
Moon needed to get out and play too.

Here is the Papa, moving fast. Certainly not annoyed at his wife at all for starting a yard project when it was 30 degrees out ;)

A very excited Moon running from the leaf/branch pile after carrying an armload of leaves.

Even though it was really cold, it felt nice to get outside and move around a bit. Thank you universe for the beautiful sunny weather.

Blessing for Mama and Baby Brother

Last Sunday the most wonderful group of women got together and had a birth blessing for baby brother and I. It was so beautiful and absolutely perfect.

This was the alter in the middle of the circle

We lit candles and talked about wishes for a beautiful birth

Each woman brought a bead with a special meaning for the birth. I am making this into a necklace to focus on when I'm in labor.

Partial group shot. I wish we had a photo of everyone.

Thanks so much to Adrienne for organizing this whole beautiful affair, Angie for running the show, Emily for the beautiful flowers, Korin for the perfect space and all of the other women for their peaceful words. Blissful day it was!!!

Midwife Moon

Jeez, can you believe how big that belly is??? Anyhow, this is a picture of our midwife Alexandra and the Moon. Moon's very favorite part of the week is when Alexandra comes and listens to the baby. Moon is measuring my belly in this picture while Alexandra listens to baby's heartbeat. Moon usually also listens to my belly with the stethoscope, pumps up the blood pressure cuff and puts the goo for the doppler on my belly. Maybe she will be the first professional nude midwife!

Eye Appointment Check-In

The Moon had her eye check up on Tuesday. Her vision is improving, which we are so stoked about, but they are back to thinking she will eventually need the surgery. Sigh. So we are going to go forward with continuing the drops until there is no more progress, then plan surgery. It is possible that she may improve to the point of not needing the surgery, but the doc didn't sound too hopeful. That's about it. Check up in a couple of months.

Happy Birthday our Sweet Sweet Moon!
Today you turn 3. And 3 you certainly are.

Owen came over for some cupcake eating.
We sang Happy Birthday and blew out candles. It took 3 blows, one for each candle.

Pals.

Eating the frosting.

Looks like the sugar zombies are kicking in...
When it was time for Owie to leave Moon cried and cried. Sugar exhaustion.

Nanny came for a visit later in the day. She took the Moon shopping for a new travel DVD player and some other spoiling! I had contractions all evening to pay for all the running around. Thankfully they passed without much of an event.

Later there was more singing, candles and apple pie.

Oh, and she got some fancy suspenders like Papou!
Very Steve Urkel (does anyone remember "Did I dooo thaaat?)

My little Moon has turned into a little girl overnight it seems. Really, just a few months ago you weren't talking more than one word at a time, still nursing several times a day and were just still a baby! Now you talk in sentences, rarely nurse and just do your own thing. You are so independent and just want to be able to do things yourself. It is amazing. I am so happy that we didn't pressure you to rush through baby-hood, because really, it happens so fast anyhow. You are about to become a big sister and are finally starting to warm up to the idea. You love chocolate and green smoothies, noodles and Tings. Not a day passes that your papa and I don't whisper to each other while you do something so painfully cute. We love you so much and are so thankful that you are here, blessing our days with your sweet self. xoxo Mama
